Our story
It started with too much challah
Shari baked for her own table first — six braids every Friday, more than four people could reasonably eat. Then it was for the neighbors. Then for the neighbors' cousins. At some point the counter stopped fitting the loaves and we started a list.
The recipe has not changed since 1987. The only thing that's new is that you can now get on the list without knowing someone.
If it isn't good enough for my own Shabbat table, it doesn't leave the kitchen.
